Function
The Archives, Library and Records Division (ALR) of the European Central Bank’s Directorate General Secretariat and Language Services comprise the sections “Archives and Records Management” and “Library”.
As a member of different functional teams within the Library, the successful candidate will participate in day-to-day operations that are part of the general library workflow, in providing reference services, in organising customer-oriented information services on the Library’s intranet portal, and in projects related to the enhancement of content management tools. In particular, he or she will:
* share acquisition tasks;
* participate in descriptive cataloguing of information resources in all formats;
* share general reference duties according to a rotational schedule;
* provide document delivery services;
* assist in managing comprehensive content-linking – including troubleshooting – to provide ongoing access to the growing online collections;
* participate in the evaluation and selection of new information products and tools;
* contribute to the planning, selection and implementation of new or enhanced information services available through the Library intranet portal;
* participate in improvements of the front-end design/user interface of the Library’s Web-OPAC;
* participate in the development of information management policies and best practices in cooperation with ECB business areas;
* participate in the improvement and evolution of Library procedures to reflect changing market conditions, new technology opportunities and shifts in user needs;
* participate in the support of the ESCB Information Management Network comprising archives, library and records management managers and experts from the national central banks;
* potentially contribute to the ESCB Legal Information Management System and/or the European Systemic Risk Board project;
* contribute to the development of the library concept in preparation for the move to the New ECB Premises;
* support functionality and acceptance testing when library applications are upgraded; and
* support the redesigning and updating of the Library Manual.
Duration of contract / Closing date
Fixed-term contract from 1 April 2010 until 31 April 2011.
